Drexel Furniture "Declaration" Secretary Desk & Bookcase with Stereo Console
Drexel Furniture "Declaration" Secretary Desk & Bookcase with Stereo Console
Drexel Furniture produced the “Declaration” line for 10-15 years - and yet, this piece has only surfaced a few times in the last few decades of MCM collecting. Designed by Stewart MacDougall and Kipp Stewart, it is a version of the Secretary Desk & Bookcase with a built in stereo: a turntable, radio, and speaker. The components were built by Motorola; the turntable appears to never have been used and the original instruction & maintenance book is included.
There is still storage - shelves behind the right door, open shelving on top, and some concealed shelving behind the tambour doors. Speakers on the top. The wood has been professionally restored; the components are untested.
38” W x 18 1/4” D x 71” H
This piece has been professionally restored, but like all vintage pieces, does show signs of wear due to prior use.
