This Bassett Furniture dresser, from their "Monterey" line, was designed by Leo Jiranek and only in production for 10 months in 1962-1963. It features nine drawers, with the three central drawers being concealed behind two doors with a beautiful curved design. The "X" inlays are rosewood; the rest of the dresser is a beautiful walnut veneer over solid wood construction. The two original inset pieces of marble are included. The mirror is from the same line and also features the X inlay.

Dresser: 74" L x 19" D x 30" H
Mirror: 28" L x 38" H

These have been professionally restored, but like all vintage pieces, they show signs of wear due to prior use.

From the original advertisement:

"MONTEREY" is forward-thinking and imaginative, an exciting new idea in contemporary modern furniture with a future. . . a mellow blending of Scandinavian influence with our own American conception of contemporary design. Decorative inlays with inlaid Rosewood designs that serve as drawer pulls, horizontal interestingly placed wood drawer pulls, sculptured legs and aprons, all tend to give Bassett's new "MONTEREY" group a fresh look. "MONTEREY" in a new Bassett color called Carmel Walnut brings out the beauty of the Walnut veneers. Pieces of generous proportions, attention to details in the mirrors, beds, dresser bases, night stand and chest, all tend to make "MONTEREY" one of Bassett's outstanding bedroom suites.
