American of Martinsville "Silhouette" Low Dresser & Mirror
The "Silhouette" line was produced by American of Martinsville. Designed by Merton Gershun, it features jet-black glossy lacquer finish with white tops. This eight-drawer piece has been professionally restored. The old white handles were not original and have been replaced with solid brass. Note: the pictures with the mirror are from before the handles were replaced.
From an original newspaper article about this line: "Black and white is the high-fashion appeal of Silhouette, new coordinated bedroom grouping by Merton L. Gershun. Snow-white tops dramatize jet-black lacquer pieces."
