Franz Ehrlich’s (1907-1984) Model 602 series was launched at the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1957 and was the first series of modular individual pieces of Scandinavian style furniture in Soviet-Controlled East Germany. Despite the ongoing \"formalism debate,\" during which the functionalist style was frowned upon and richly ornamented, heavy individual pieces of furniture were promoted instead, the demand for affordable, contemporary furniture suitable for small new apartments rose rapidly. Former Ehrlich came from the Bauhaus school and used the furniture series in the interior design of the East Berlin Radio Station he also designed on Nalepastraße in Berlin-Treptow, and in the Central Institute for Cardiovascular Research in Berlin-Buch. This line produced for almost a decade and is a German design classic, in the collection of the Museum Der Dinge in Berlin. \u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Boston Mid Century Modern","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52832405258558,"sku":null,"price":2000.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0758\/8469\/1774\/files\/DSCF2837.jpg?v=1780698610","url":"https:\/\/bostonmcm.com\/products\/veb-deutsche-werkstatten-hellerau-teak-sideboard-designed-by-franz-erlich-a1861","provider":"Boston Mid Century Modern","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
